Serie A: Which players will miss Milan-Juventus?

Marco Sportiello is only the latest player forced out of action for MilanJuventus: here’s the list of those unavailable for Sunday’s big game in Serie A.

Sportiello has joined his teammate Mike Maignan on the sidelines due to a calf injury, so third-choice goalkeeper Antonio Mirante is expected to start between the sticks against the Old Lady on Sunday night.

Maignan is suspended and the same is true of Theo Hernandez, another key player for the Rossoneri. Stefano Pioli will also cope without the injured Ismael Bennacer, Rade Krunic, Samuel Chukwueze, Mattia Caldara and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Bennacer is still recovering from a knee injury sustained last season. Loftus-Cheek picked up an adductor injury before the break, while Chukwueze suffered a hamstring injury while on international duty with Nigeria’s national team.

It remains to be seen if Pierre Kalulu will recover in time for the game given that the France defender hasn’t played for over a month.

Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri has some key players out of action too.

Paul Pogba has been suspended after failing a doping test in August and Nicolò Fagioli has recently been banned for seven months due to his involvement in a betting scandal.

Brazilian defenders Alex Sandro and Danilo are unavailable. The captain sustained a muscle injury while on international duty during the break. Mattia De Sciglio is still recovering from an ACL surgery undergone in May.

Federico Chiesa hasn’t trained with the team this week and may not be available on Sunday.
