With his anticipation and intelligent positioning he was always alert to any of Torino’s attacking moves. Organised the defence like clockwork and made sure everyone in his team knew exactly what they were meant to be doing. Imposing.
Gabriel Paletta [Parma]
Put Miroslav Klose in his place and inspired his back-line like a true leader. Caused problems up field on several occasions, almost scoring at one point and also made a couple of crucial interventions. Commanding.

Utterly ruled the right flank, overpowering everyone who stood in his way while also finding time and space to have five shots. Played some great combinations with David Pizarro and, after one, he scored a screamer from 30 metres. Powerful.
Blerim Dzemaili [Napoli]
Never put a foot wrong, won his challenges, scored a thunderous long-range right footer and was a constant threat. He touched the ball no less than 84 times with a pass completion rate of 97 per cent. Influential.
Roberto Pereyra [Udinese]
Man of the Match and was a constant thorn in the Cagliari defence’s side but really should have scored earlier. However, he eventually made the pressure count when he curled a right-footed drive into the far bottom corner. Prominent.
Josip Ilicic [Palermo]
The Slovenian has been in magnificent form these last few weeks and scored his fifth goal in as many games. Worked well with Fabrizio Miccoli who set him up to side foot the ball home from 20 yards. Magnificent.
Santiago Garcia [Palermo]
Patrolled the left flank with metronomic regularity, putting over several dangerous crosses. His speed out of the blocks completely overwhelmed Jonathan and he was always an outlet for his teammates. Significant.
Pablo Daniel Osvaldo [Roma]
Man of the Match with a wonderful hat-trick, starting off with a right footed shot and finishing off with two magnificent left-footers, all from inside the box, where he cleverly found space. Superb.
Adem Ljajic [Fiorentina]
A classy performance and caused problems throughout. Almost scored with a powerful free-kick then moments later snapped on to a loose ball from 25 yards out and hammered it back in past Sergio Romero. Elegant.
