Roma director general Mauro Baldissoni has reflected on the club’s ‘legitimate dream’ of the Scudetto, and calmness over Rudi Garcia’s renewal.
The Giallorossi have slight renewed hope of a title push entering the final seven rounds of the League, for Juventus’ defeat at Napoli meaning that should Roma win their game in hand this midweek, they would close the gap to eight points.

The Giallorossi have slight renewed hope of a title push entering the final seven rounds of the League, for Juventus’ defeat at Napoli meaning that should Roma win their game in hand this midweek, they would close the gap to eight points.
“The hope for the Scudetto is legitimate, but much more simply our goal is to pick up as many points as possible,” Baldissoni [pictured, left] has commented today on Radio Anch’Io Sport.
“And this is made possible also by the desire to get closer to Juventus, who still remain at a distance.
“It will also depend on their performance and therefore we must also hope. As for third place, keeping Napoli away will depend only on us.”
I Lupi are seen as keen to hand Coach Rudi Garcia a new contract in the coming weeks.
“Italians and foreigners are alike, but, the players have to be good and in the end they are the ones that will make the difference.
“Garcia? Journalistically issues are more interesting than they are in reality. The Coach has another year with us, and so there is plenty of time to discuss and renew.
“We want to extend our relationship with each other. The time is there to renew.”
“This is a project that I have worked on for two years, we have selected the area, with over 200 areas inspected for construction.
“Is there a tight schedule for construction? We have to deal with large projects in this spirit. I would not like the timing of Italian bureaucracy to be an excuse for our failure.
“We know that there is a minimum of two years needed and we want to stick to two years. The first excavations for the stadium should be in December 2014 and January 2015.”
Baldissoni was asked about the club’s attitude towards youth development.
“We are investing there because we are convinced that this is the future of football. We are expanding our presence in the city, developing agreements with companies that have become academies for Roma.”
