Roma pushing for Atletico defender Soyuncu

Roma are still looking around for low-cost options to bolster Jose Mourinho’s squad and are continuing to press for Atletico Madrid’s Caglar Soyuncu.

The Rossoneri are unable to invest too heavily this month due to Financial Fair Play restrictions, limiting them to free transfers or loan deals. The club’s first piece of business this month was to bring in youngster Dean Huijsen from Juventus on a six-month deal.

Roma are also preparing to lose midfielder Renato Sanches this month. The 26-year-old hasn’t impressed since his arrival from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer, dealing with numerous injuries, and seems destined to depart in the coming weeks.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport via TMW, Roma are starting to put pressure on Atletico defender Soyuncu, wanting to add the 27-year-old to Mourinho’s squad for the rest of the season. No permanence clause is expected to be included in a possible deal.

The Turkish centre back has only seen 212 minutes of action across nine matches for Diego Simeone’s side this term, struggling to break into the team in the Spanish capital.
