Roma fined for anti-Napoli chants

Roma have been fined €10,000 for discriminatory chanting in the defeat to Napoli.

The Giallorossi were beaten 2-1 by Maurizio Sarri’s side on Saturday afternoon, and offensive chants about southern Italians and Neapolitans could be heard.

Now the Lega Serie A has released its disciplinary report, fining the club €10,000 for “songs expressive of discrimination based on territorial origin”.

Bologna were hit with a €5,000 fine for a banner which was “gravely insulting toward a referee”, with Atalanta fined €3,000 after a plastic bottle was thrown at a Fiorentina player.

On the pitch, Norbert Balogh has been given a one-game ban after his red card against Torino.

Joining him on the sidelines for Week 28 are his teammate Andrea Rispoli, Juventus winger Juan Cuadrado, Crotone pair Aleandro Rosi and Federico Ceccherini, Pescara’s Andrea Coda, Roma centre-back Kostas Manolas, and Andrea Masiello of Atalanta.

Napoli Coach Maurizio Sarri has been fined €3,000 and warned after complaining about a refereeing decision, leaving his technical area in the process.

Luigi Del Neri, the Udinese Coach, was also fined €3,000 for insulting an official.
