This is a head-to-head for second place as well as the chance to stay in the hunt for the Scudetto.

They have practically full squads to choose from, as the only absentees are Alessandro Florenzi for the hosts and Lorenzo Tonelli for the visiting team.

Napoli Coach Sarri is reportedly ready to field Milik, who in the 3-1 Coppa Italia semi-final defeat to Juventus on Tuesday made his first start since rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in October.

There are some other decisions that need to be made and Lorenzo Insigne is the favourite to complete the trident attack with Jose Callejon, again resting Dries Mertens ahead of next week’s Champions League clash with Real Madrid.

Christian Maggio and Elseid Hysaj are fighting for the right-back slot, while in midfield Marko Rog and Piotr Zielinski are pushing for places with Jorginho and Amadou Diawara.

Roma are expected to bring Daniele De Rossi back into the midfield, replacing Leandro Paredes after the 2-0 Coppa Italia semi-final loss to Lazio on Wednesday.

Mohamed Salah and Radja Nainggolan should support Capocannoniere Edin Dzeko, though Diego Perotti and Stephan El Shaarawy are both alternatives in case the Egyptian needs to rest.

Salah did not seem sharp midweek and could be preserved ahead of Thursday’s Europa League tie with Olympique Lyonnais.

Emerson Palmieri returned from injury in the Coppa and is passed fit to start again on the left flank of a four-man midfield.

Another change could see Antonio Rudiger moved to the right-wing-back position, providing more defensive cover than Bruno Peres, with Juan Jesus slotting into the back three.

Roma (probable): Szczesny; Manolas, Fazio, Juan Jesus; Rudiger, De Rossi, Strootman, Emerson; Salah, Nainggolan; Dzeko

Napoli (probable): Reina; Hysaj, Albiol, Koulibaly, Ghoulam; Zielinski, Diawara, Hamsik; Callejon, Milik, Insigne
