The pitch at the Giuseppe Meazza stadium is in seemingly poor condition ahead of tonight’s match between Milan and Juventus.

The pitch was used by Inter yesterday for their 2-1 win over Venezia, and it’s clear that more time was needed to help the grass return to a good condition again. The Nerazzurri’s match kicked off at 17.00 UK time yesterday, meaning that barely 25 hours have passed between the two games.

This is the first time in Serie A history that both Inter and Milan have played at home during the same match day. It is avoided both because of the impact on the pitch and because of the logistics of managing two home games.

Recently, the Giuseppe Meazza stadium was used twice in 24 hours when Inter faced off against Juventus in the Supercoppa Italiana final, before Milan hosted Genoa in a Coppa Italia match. In that Rossoneri game, Fikayo Tomori suffered a serious knee injury after only 24 minutes, which could be impacted by a poor pitch condition.
