Official: Joao Pedro to wear Italy’s No.10 shirt against Turkey

FIGC has revealed Italy’s squad numbers for tonight’s match with Turkey, with Joao Pedro wearing the No.10 and Gianluca Scamacca the No.14.

The Sassuolo striker is expected to start up front with his Sassuolo teammate Giacomo Raspadori and Roma star Nicolò Zaniolo. Scamacca and Zaniolo had been left out of Italy’s 23-man squad list for the match against North Macedonia on Thursday.

Scamacca wasn’t fully fit, while Zaniolo had been ruled out for a technical choice.

Meantime, nine players have pulled out of the team. Ciro Immobile, Lorenzo Insigne, Jorginho, Marco Verratti, Domenico Berardi, Gianluca Mancini, Luiz Felipe, Alessandro Florenzi and Matteo Politano have all returned to their clubs. The remaining 24 players are available for tonight’s friendly in Turkey.

Joao Pedro was born in Brazil but has an Italian passport. He made his Azzurri debut on Thursday, coming off the bench in the second half of the match against North Macedonia, who eventually beat the Azzurri with a late goal of Aleksandar Trajkovski. Insigne was Italy’s No.10 in Palermo last week and during the Euros last summer.
