Noel Gallagher and Zanetti get Champions League final wishes

Famous Manchester City fan Noel Gallagher and Inter vice-president Javier Zanetti both got their wishes for the Champions League final, although their happiness is for different reasons.

The Oasis frontman told Sky Sports Italia last month that he’d like the Cityzens to face the Nerazzurri in European football’s biggest game, because ‘they aren’t very good’ and ‘Lukaku is dreadful’.

Zanetti also hoped Inter would meet Manchester City in the Champions League final, telling Sky Sports Italia that he’d ‘like to avoid Real Madrid’ because the ‘competition seems made for them’.

Inter’s 3-0 aggregate win over Milan and Manchester City’s 5-1 aggregate thrashing of Real Madrid has now set up this tie, pitting a cash-strapped Nerazzurri against an Abu Dhabi-backed Cityzens.

Manchester City’s squad is estimated to be worth over €1 billion, double that of Inter, setting up an incredibly tough task for Simone Inzaghi’s side in Istanbul on June 10.

Whilst the Sky Blues have never faced the Nerazzurri before, Pep Guardiola has clashed with the club four times during his coaching career, all with Barcelona. In those four games, he secured two wins and a draw, with the loss being the one that caused the Blaugrana to exit the Champions League semi-finals in 2010.
