New Juventus President will call Del Piero to replace Nedved – report

According to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, new Juventus President Gianluca Ferrero will call Alessandro Del Piero back to the club to help Federico Cherubini and Max Allegri in managing the sporting area.

Juventus’ new board of directors will take place on January 18, 2023, after the previous board members resigned this past Monday.

According to Gazzetta, club legend Alessandro Del Piero could sit on the new board as President Ferrero and Exor Chairman John Elkann are planning to re-call the former No.10 to the club, offering him an operative role.

On paper, Del Piero should replace Pavel Nedved, the former vice president who resigned on Monday, along with the rest of the board.

Exor’s aim is to fill the board of directors with technical figures who can navigate the chaos and restore financial stability. New President Ferrero and CEO Maurizio Scanavino are very well prepared in this aspect but would need somebody with deep knowledge of football and Juventus, so Del Piero is seen as the perfect addition to the board to support the sporting area, now only represented by Cherubini and Allegri.

Del Piero could replace Nedved becoming Juventus’ vice president but talks with the ex-No.10 have not begun yet. The 2006 Italy World Cup winner refused to rule out his return to the club on Monday night, shortly after that resignation from Juvenutus’ board of directors had become of public domain.
