Mourinho slams Roma and Tiago Pinto: ‘Not interested’

Jose Mourinho lashed out at former club Roma and director Tiago Pinto. ‘It’s difficult to understand how a coach reaches two European Finals and is fired.’

The coach was sacked in mid-January, just days after declaring he wanted to stay with the Giallorossi for many years, beyond the natural termination of his contract in June 2024.

Not only did the club not offer him a new deal, but dismissed him to bring in former captain Daniele De Rossi and the results have gone from strength to strength.

“It is difficult to understand how a coach who reaches two European Finals in a row is fired,” Mourinho told Sport TV while attending the MotoGP in Portimao.

The Special One lifted the Conference League in 2022, then reached the Final of the Europa League in 2023, losing on penalties to Sevilla.

He also lashed out at director Tiago Pinto, who gave an interview on Sky Sport Italia this week insisting he felt terrible when having to give the news of the dismissal.

“Interviews with Mr Tiago Pinto, honestly, I won’t waste a second of my time reading or listening to it, I have no interest at all in what he has to say,” added Mourinho.

“What you say he tells me, it makes no difference. I have no interest at all.”

Would Mourinho work with Tiago Pinto again at a different club?

“No, certainly not. Sometimes things lead us to think they are possible, but in this case, it is definitely not possible.”
