Mourinho set for Napoli talks after sacking from Roma

Jose Mourinho does not want to leave Serie A following his sacking from Roma and will meet with Napoli next week.

The 60-year-old Portuguese coach was dismissed by the Giallorossi in the days following their 3-1 defeat to Milan, a result that left the club ninth in the league table after 20 matches. He was replaced by Daniele De Rossi, who secured a victory over Hellas Verona in his debut game.

Mourino’s sacking has not gone down well with Roma fans, who have started leaving posters thanking the coach around the streets of the Italian capital. Multiple banners supporting the coach were also seen in the stands of the Stadio Olimpico during the win over Verona.

As reported by The Sunday Times, Mourinho wants to continue working in Italy and will meet with Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis next week to discuss an immediate return to the dugout. His agent Jorge Mendes opened talks with the Partenopei in the days following his dismissal from Roma.

The Portuguese coach is also being heavily courted by Saudi side Al-Shabab, but his priority is to stay in Europe for the time being. In the coming days, he’s expected to be present at some Serie A matches to publicly show his desire to stay in the league.
