Mourinho not indifferent to Conte’s appointment at Tottenham

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, José Mourinho was somehow affected by Antonio Conte’s appointment as Tottenham coach.

The Special One has a few problems to deal with as his Roma side have only won one Serie A game from the last five.

The club’s owners and directors are not considering his sacking, but haven’t been impressed by the coach’s last comments regarding the squad’s depth and the transfer strategies.

‘He’s a little man’ – the tense relationship between Conte and Mourinho

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, there’s one more reason affecting Mourinho’s mood and that’s Antonio Conte’s appointment as Tottenham coach.

The pink paper quotes sources close to the coach saying the Special One was ‘not indifferent’ to Conte’s move to North London.

Both coaches have been in charge of Inter, Chelsea and Tottenham during their careers.

They have never been on good terms and they often clashed when Mourinho was in charge of Manchester United and Conte was at Chelsea.

When asked about a comparison between his Inter side and Conte’s, during his unveiling press conference at Roma, Mourinho replied:

“There are some coaches in the clubs’ history that you should never compare to others. For this club, don’t compare Capello or Liedholm to other coaches. For Inter, never compare others to Herrera or me, because you just can’t do that.”

The Special One also made a salty comment on Conte’s appointment at Tottenham last week:

“He’s a good coach,” Mourinho told Sky Sport Italia about the Italian tactician. “But Nuno Espirito Santo is also a very good coach, who has done well for four or five years at Wolves.

“I can’t say Tottenham have a good coach now, they had one before as well. They have him now, but they already had it.”
