Montella: ‘Positive signs for Milan’

Vincenzo Montella saw positives for Milan, despite defeat to Roma – “I have to congratulate the lads”.

The Rossoneri were defeated 1-0 at Stadio Olimpico last night, with M’Baye Niang missing a penalty, but the Coach saw good things from his side.

“I’m more disappointed for the lads than about the table,” Montella told Milan TV.

“They were very bitter. This should give us the belief that we’re on the right track though, there have been great improvements.

“I’m more disappointed for the lads than about the table,” Montella told Milan TV.

“They were very bitter. This should give us the belief that we’re on the right track though, there have been great improvements.

“For young lads to play that was in this stadium is a source of great satisfaction for us, we have to make sure this defeat his healthy and that it gives us the conviction that we need.

“The performance means we’ve grown further, with a different result that would have been the case even more.

“If I analyse the game, I have to congratulate the lads, they’re giving us satisfaction in terms of the consistency of our play.”

Montella also singled-out Andrea Bertolacci for specific praise.

“He had an excellent match, he gave so much as [Gianluca] Lapadula did. I asked him to do a lot of work, and he really limited Roma’s actions.

“It was also thanks to him that the team didn’t suffer.”
