Moggi: ‘Milan perfect choice by bringing back Ibrahimovic’

Former Juventus director Luciano Moggi had high praise for Zlatan Ibrahimovic and felt Milan made the ‘perfect choice’ by working on his return.

The former striker hung up his boots at the end of last season, deciding to retire after a final season plagued by injury issues. His second spell with Milan was a huge success and he played a crucial role in their Scudetto success in the 2021-22 season.

Milan have been in close contact with Ibrahimovic over the last few weeks, working to try and bring him back to the club in a backroom role, believing his presence and work could be key in taking the project under Stefano Pioli forward.

Speaking to TvPlay via TMW, Moggi first gave his thoughts on Ibrahimovic’s qualities as a person.

“I know Zlatan, I saw him practically as a boy, but when I met him, I immediately had the feeling that he had that kind of stuff that could take him far, but not just as a player, but as a man.

“He is charismatic, he lacks nothing to be a great manager. I see him not just good, very good in this role.”

The former Juventus director then discussed Milan’s work to bring Ibrahimovic back and the role he could have alongside coach Pioli.

“I don’t know anything about it, but if Milan thought of him to fill a role that maybe doesn’t exist now, I think it’s the right, prudent and also perfect choice. Zlatan is an exceptional guy, an incredible man, just look at the career he has had and where he has gone.

“He has experiences that few have, he has charisma and had the opportunity to have an incredible person like Mino at his side.”
