Milan’s takeover: Investcorp’s transfer priority revealed

Sven Botman will likely be Milan‘s first signing for 2022-23, but the priority for new owners Investcorp will be to get a new centre forward for Stefano Pioli.

La Gazzetta dello Sport provided the latest updates regarding negotiations between the Bahrain-based fund and Elliott. Investcorp hopes to finalise the deal by the end of the month and could put €300m on the table to strengthen the team in 2022-23. Lille’sSven Botman will be Milan’s first summer signing, but according to the same report, the priority for the new owners will be to buy a new centre forward.

Divock Origi is on the verge of reaching an agreement with the Rossoneri over a free move from Liverpool, but the Belgium international will likely be deployed as a right winger.

Gianluca Scamacca and Sebastian Haller are on Milan’s sights. The latter would be slightly more expensive as Ajax are looking for an offer in the region of €45m for their top scorer (33 goals in 38 appearances this term). According to reports in England, even Romelu Lukaku could be a reinforcement for the Rossoneri.

Jonathan David and Darwin Nunez had previously been linked with a move to San Siro, but they’d be even more expensive and Milan will know whether they can aspire to sign one of them only after learning the transfer budget for the upcoming transfer window.
