Milan may provide Romelu Lukaku a way out of Chelsea but a deal hinges on two takeovers and extremely complicated negotiations.

As detailed by Nizaar Kinsella, Goal.com’s Chelsea correspondent, the Rossoneri are keen on the idea of bringing the Belgian striker back to Serie A in the summer but first Investcorp’s takeover will need to be fully finalised.

Talks are currently ongoing with Elliott and things are looking positive. The Bahraini investment fund then may look to make a statement signing right out of the gate once things have been completed.

Milan have clearly been lacking a solid striker this season and Lukaku has proven his ability in Serie A before, but a deal would also be extremely expensive. It’s likely that it would be a loan move and that the Rossoneri would ask for Chelsea to pay some of his wages in order to make a deal viable.

Another factor that complicates things is that Chelsea’s takeover would also need to be completed, as it’s impossible to imagine the €115m man leaving during a change in management.

  1. Never say never football is a strange thing and loyalty is dead, just go ask Inter who always pick up Juve players and will most likely add Dybala. Milan should not care about someone’s past at this point and if they get new owners why not. Money talks and clearly he has no loyalty. That said watching ACM getting schooled by Inter proves that they have not got what it takes to compete with the best and have become mediocre to a certain extent. Get new owners and become the Milan of old.

  2. @Milanwizz are you aware that the results of the Milan derby in the last 10 years have been lopsided and Inter have owned it. It seems you come here and do none of your homework. Out of 176 games played from 1929, Inter has 67 wins to Milan’s 53. More importantly in the last decade it has been woeful for Milan. Even the great Arrigo said you cannot compare both teams and it is why Milan need investment and if that meant getting Lukaku, why not. Serie a suits his style of play and money talks.

  3. Agreed with above, milan still a long way behind inter, even with the surprise league win (inter lost yet I thought they played better than their coppa performance), need players desperately. Lukaku is a quality striker as long as the team is playing his style. Will Milan play on the counter? Also will need some serious midfield investment to provide the service he needs. Barella eriksen and brozovic put the goals on a plate for him on the counter.

  4. What I find interesting is when Inter was about to be sold it was the end of the world but when it’s Milan it’s completely opposite. What makes them any different from the previous owners who were never there in the long term and always seeks to sell after a few years. While on the other hand Inter are on course to start a domination with the same owners who were deemed “broke” as if Covid only affected Inter. Ps Lukaku ain’t going to Milan

  5. Giroud and Ibra’s days are numbered. Lukaku is good if cheap as hes proven in serie a. Certainly better than scamacca.

Don’t forget ibra played for inter & juve (amongst many others). Loyalty is a thing of the past.

Inter should never have sold him and also need a new striker. (When will Dzeko retire) Scamacca? Berardi?
