It’s reported Milan are discussing a Fabio Borini loan with Liverpool, a cheaper alternative to Fernando Torres.

The Rossoneri need a striker to replace Mario Balotelli, who completed his £16m (€20m) transfer to Liverpool on Monday.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the latest target is Borini, whose chances of getting regular playing time at Anfield deteriorated further with Balo’s arrival.

It is claimed Milan are in negotiations with Liverpool to take Borini on loan, possibly also with an option to buy.

He is seen as a cheaper alternative to Chelsea centre-forward Torres.

The 23-year-old Italy international spent last season on loan at Sunderland and Roma sold him to Liverpool in July 2012 for €13.3m.
