Media have no doubt about Inter’s worst player against Milan

Italian sports papers picked Stefan de Vrij as Inter‘s worst player against Milan, but only a few Nerazzurri got a passing grade following Saturday’s Derby della Madonnina.

The Dutch international was rated 4/10 by Gazzetta, Tuttosport and Il Corriere dello Sport after Inter’s 3-2 loss against their city rivals yesterday.

“From flying Dutchman to sleeping Dutchman,” wrote Gazzetta.

“We don’t know what happened to him, but the drop is evident. He looked almost uninterested when Leao scored his two goals.”

It is hard, however, to find an Inter player with a passing grade despite a decent first part of the game where the Nerazzurri broke the deadlock thanks to a Marcelo Brozovic goal. Edin Dzeko (6.5), Lautaro Martinez (6.5), Brozovic (6) Joaquin Correa (6), Henrikh Mkhitaryan (6.5) and Federico Dimarco (6) were the only ones who didn’t disappoint, according to Gazzetta.

Milan Skriniar, Alessandro Bastoni and Hakan Calhanoglu received the lowest ratings on Italian sports papers.

“We scored two wonderful goals, but conceded three that we absolutely cannot afford, we should not concede, especially not in a derby. At the end we lost,” Inzaghi said yesterday.

“Considering everything we created, we probably deserved a draw, but I am the coach and the first to be held responsible for that half-hour that left to be desired. In such an important match, we should’ve done better.”

The Nerazzurri have won three games and lost two so far this season and will face Bayern Munich at home in their opening Champions League group stage game on Wednesday.
