Lille tell Botman that Milan’s offer is too low

Sven Botman is still keen to join Milan but Lille have told him that their offer is far below the one submitted by Newcastle Untied.

The 22-year-old Dutch centre back seems destined to depart this summer after a strong two years in France, with both the Rossoneri and the Magpies desperate to secure his signature. It’s been a two-horse race for a while now and the Milanese club were hoping that Champions League football would be a convincing factor.

As detailed by The Northern Echo, Botman’s first choice is Milan but Lille have informed him that the offer is too low compared to Newcastle’s. The Rossoneri’s offer totalled €30m, with around €20-25m of that being fixed and the rest being add-ons.

In comparison, Newcastle’s offer would see them pay around €30m up front and another €10m or so in add-ons, making it a much more attractive proposal.

The Dutch centre back is excited by the prospect of playing for Milan and competing in the Champions League, but as things stand no move is on the horizon, with Newcastle the most likely destination.
