Sven Botman is still keen to join Milan but Lille have told him that their offer is far below the one submitted by Newcastle Untied.

The 22-year-old Dutch centre back seems destined to depart this summer after a strong two years in France, with both the Rossoneri and the Magpies desperate to secure his signature. It’s been a two-horse race for a while now and the Milanese club were hoping that Champions League football would be a convincing factor.

As detailed by The Northern Echo, Botman’s first choice is Milan but Lille have informed him that the offer is too low compared to Newcastle’s. The Rossoneri’s offer totalled €30m, with around €20-25m of that being fixed and the rest being add-ons.

In comparison, Newcastle’s offer would see them pay around €30m up front and another €10m or so in add-ons, making it a much more attractive proposal.

The Dutch centre back is excited by the prospect of playing for Milan and competing in the Champions League, but as things stand no move is on the horizon, with Newcastle the most likely destination.

  1. Well if a club can tell you where your future lies then we cant really blame these agent from trying to milk these clubs dry at times, I`m just saying.

  2. If it is not a good career move, resist. They can’t force you to sign. Clubs and agents are messing up players because of the next big deal. Go where you will grow as a player.

  3. Or he can just play out his contract and leave for free….. Not sure why Lille is trying to strong arm him.

  4. Milan should increase their offer. 30M from Newcastle is a steal. If Milan can even offer 25M in total cash and rest on performance. Milan need to start paying their players well Enough also crazy to see that best injured player like ibra earned more than those fighting on the pitch.
