Karsdorp trains with Roma, but doesn’t talk to Mourinho

Rick Karsdorp trained with his teammates in Trigoria today, but according to Il Corriere Dello Sport, the meeting with club directors and coach José Mourinho has been postponed.

The Dutch defender hit the headlines before the break when the Special One accused him of betraying the group with his attitude, costing the Giallorossi a win in a crucial away game at Sassuolo. Mourinho never directly mentioned Karsdorp but said the player who betrayed the team had to leave in January.

Karsdorp didn’t participate in the tournée in Japan earlier this month, providing a medical certificate claiming he could not join his teammates due to psychological issues.

However, he returned to Continassa this morning and was also expected to meet club directors and Mourinho to clarify his position and learn Roma’s plans for the January transfer window.

According to Il Corriere Dello Sport, the meeting did not take place today, but the two parties are expected to meet before a new round of friendlies in Portugal. Roma will fly out on December 15.

Mourinho returned to Rome on Sunday evening but did not answer any questions. When asked about Karsdorp, he only said “You know me,” suggesting that he still wants the defender out in January.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Roma will let Karsdorp leave in the winter transfer window, but only on a permanent transfer.
