Juventus will not pay Valencia fee for Gonzalez

Juventus are reportedly not going to pay any transfer fee to Valencia for Uruguay defender Facundo Gonzalez, signing him with an innovative formula.

Multiple sources are confident that the centre-back will be moving to the Bianconeri and have his medical early next week, on Tuesday or Wednesday.

However, the details of the deal are still sketchy, with initial suggestions of €3m shrugged off by Valencia transfer expert Salva Gomis.

Instead, Juve would take Gonzalez essentially for free, promising Valencia only a substantial percentage of the sell-on fee and a series of performance-related bonuses.

At the same time, Valencia would have first right of refusal if Juventus decided to sell or loan Gonzalez on.

He would sign a five-year contract with the Bianconeri until June 2028.

Gonzalez only turned 20 last month and his contract with Valencia runs to the end of the current campaign.

He shot to fame for his performances with Uruguay at the Under-20 World Cup, beating Italy in the Final, and had also been linked with Milan and Salernitana.
