Former Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny will be back at the Allianz Stadium for the Serie A clash against Napoli on Saturday evening, and will complete a lap of honour in front of the Bianconeri fans after announcing his retirement earlier this summer.

Juventus honour Szczesny after retirement decision

The ex-Arsenal and Roma goalkeeper and former Poland international left Juventus by mutual consent back in August, before announcing his decision to retire less than two weeks later.

Szczesny had spent nine seasons in Serie A, including seven with Juve, during which time he won three league titles, three Coppa Italia trophies and two more from the Supercoppa Italiana.

His position as Juve’s no.1 came under threat when the club brought in Michele Di Gregorio from Monza at the start of the summer.

For most of the transfer window, reports suggested that the Old Lady had been hoping to find an agreement with a club from the Saudi Pro League over his sale, but Szczesny had previously claimed that he ‘had enough money’ to reject a move to the Middle East and stuck true to his word.

Juventus-Napoli will kick off at 18.00 BST on Saturday evening.
