Inzaghi opts out of media duties as Inter focus on Roma

The Inter camp are said to be fully focussed on their upcoming visit from Jose Mourinho and Roma in Serie A on Sunday, as Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi has decided not to conduct his usual media duties heading into the game.

While it is customary for Serie A coaches to address the media on the eve of weekend fixtures, Inzaghi has decided not to hold a pre-match press conference on this occasion. He will not give an interview to Inter’s internal media channels either.

Inter currently sit atop the Serie A table thanks to their 3-0 win over Torino last weekend. Following results elsewhere, the Nerazzurri now sit one point ahead of their city-rivals Milan in second.

Inzaghi and his squad backed up last weekend’s win with another positive result in a 2-1 victory over RB Salzburg in the Champions League on Tuesday evening. Sassuolo are still the only team to have beaten Inter in any competition so far this season.

One popular topic that Inzaghi will not be discussing ahead of the Roma clash is the return of last season’s loanee Romelu Lukaku.

The Belgian had returned to San Siro on a temporary deal from Chelsea for the 2022-23 season, but relations between Inter and Lukaku broke down in spectacular fashion over the summer.

After a saga that seemingly lasted for months, Lukaku ended up signing off on another loan deal away from Chelsea, eventually joining up with Mourinho and Roma for the 2023-24 campaign.

Both Inter and Roma have been in training putting in their final preparations ahead of the showdown at San Siro on Sunday.
