Zlatan Ibrahimovic, senior advisor to the ownership group and senior management at Milan, has one particular name in mind to replace current coach Stefano Pioli when his tenure in San Siro comes to an end.
As per SempreMilan, Ibrahimovic’s ideal replacement for Pioli is Antonio Conte.
Conte has been out of work for just shy of a year now, as he was relieved of his duties from Premier League side Tottenham on March 26, 2023. According to reports over the last 11 months, Conte will take time to decide upon which project will suit him best.
A return to Italy to either one of Milan or Napoli has been suggested by numerous outlets in recent months. The Bayern Munich job has also come up in conversations, and some believe that a third Premier League job could still be on the cards.
What is clear in the Milan camp is that Ibrahimovic will have an important say in conversations on the topic of the next Rossoneri coach.
The Swede appeared alongside RedBird owner Gerry Cardinale at the Financial Times Business of Football summit in London on Thursday. Cardinale took time to clarify what roles and responsibilities Ibrahimovic has on a day-to-day basis.
Cardinale clarified that Ibrahimovic has the authority to direct club staff in the big boss’ absence.
And, as a Senior Advisor to the board, with over 20 years of experience in European Football on his resume, his opinions on the sporting side of the operation are of great value, Cardinale said.
