Roma are reportedly thinking about making a move for Mats Hummels should he decide to leave Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer this summer.

The 35-year-old German centre back, who proved himself to still be at the highest level during the club’s charge to the Champions League final this season, has less than a month left on his current contract with the Bundesliga outfit.

Hummels is considering his options as his Borussia Dortmund contract ticks down and Milan have already started considering a deal for the veteran defender, keen to add the experienced centre back to their squad.

Hummels on Roma radar

As reported by Corriere di Roma via TMW, Roma have started weighing up a move for Hummels in the coming weeks should he ultimately let his contract with Borussia Dortmund expire, needing to bolster Daniele De Rossi’s backline.

In Germany, the 35-year-old earns around €8m gross per season, but he’d be willing to lower his wages for a two-year deal with an option for a third. He is not interested in a move away to Saudi Arabia or the MLS.
