According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, there were several officiating mistakes in Fiorentina vs. Inter last night with La Viola’s goal that should have been disallowed for a foul of Nico Gonzalez on Milan Skriniar.
Inter snatched a 3-1 at the Stadio Artemio Franchi last night, despite an excellent performance by Fiorentina in the first half.
Riccardo Sottil broke the deadlock in the first half, but according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, his goal should have been disallowed for a foul of Nico Gonzalez on Skriniar.
The Argentine winger pushed Skriniar during an aerial duel and neither the referee Michael Fabbri nor VAR referee Fabio Maresca noticed it.
According to the paper, Fiorentina’s only goal of the match should have been disallowed.
That wasn’t the only mistake by Fabbri, who had a tough night at the Franchi and was rated 4.5/10 by the pink paper.
The referee didn’t see a clear handball from Cristiano Biraghi on the edge of the box in the first half, but VAR could not intervene because the Viola defender touched the ball with his arm outside the box.
Nico Gonzalez protested excessively and was dismissed for two yellow cards. Fabbri’s choice was correct, but he should have booked Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni, who had grabbed the Argentine’s shirt, which is why the Fiorentina winger protested.
