According to Sky Sport Italia, Lille have offered Paulo Fonseca a new contract, but he is stalling them and Olympique Marseille for Milan.

The Portuguese coach has emerged as the absolute favourite for the job to replace Stefano Pioli next season.

It is reported today that Lille proposed a new deal beyond his current contract, which expires on June 30, but Fonseca is keeping his club waiting.

The same is true for Olympique Marseille, who are eager to hire the former Roma and Shakhtar Donetsk boss.

Fonseca favourite for Milan

Milan need more time to get their situation in order, as Pioli has a contract until June 2025 and that must be terminated by mutual consent, most likely with a payment to the coach.

Until that has been resolved, the Rossoneri cannot name their new manager.

Although Roberto De Zerbi is now free after leaving Brighton and Hove Albion, multiple sources continue to report that Milan have not made contact and do not consider him suitable for the role.
