Di Lorenzo asks Napoli to let him leave

Napoli captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo has reportedly asked for a transfer in the summer, believing the cycle in the Campania capital is over.

The 30-year-old Italian right back, who was an instrumental figure in the team’s historic Scudetto success under Luciano Spalletti, penned a new long-term contract in August of last year, unaware of the difficulties that lay ahead this term.

Di Lorenzo has performed moderately well despite Napoli’s significant downturn this season, scoring twice and providing eight assists across 46 matches. Due to his recent renewal, he is tied to the club to June 2028.
