Napoli captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo has reportedly asked for a transfer in the summer, believing the cycle in the Campania capital is over.

The 30-year-old Italian right back, who was an instrumental figure in the team’s historic Scudetto success under Luciano Spalletti, penned a new long-term contract in August of last year, unaware of the difficulties that lay ahead this term.

Di Lorenzo has performed moderately well despite Napoli’s significant downturn this season, scoring twice and providing eight assists across 46 matches. Due to his recent renewal, he is tied to the club to June 2028.

  1. Such a pity. Makes you wonder what all these departures are leading to. Will the team be plunged backwards or will it advance forwards. Time will tell i suppose. Such a fall from grace dosent bode well for a quick return to winning ways quickly by the looks of things at the moment.

  2. Sad :-(
I will forever miss their 22/23 team. It looks like the club is plunging into Man Utd levels of mismanagement—filled with years of mediocrity and trophy barrenness.

  3. My observation of the club, the president/chairman is the problem of Napoli. Bad decision to let spalleti go, inefficiency in bring Grade A couch to the club. Kill that squad of 2022/23 set. Napoli is the laughing stuck of Italian football am so disappointed. Napoli can never be like the team it used to be anymore.
