Conte’s Tottenham to miss out on second transfer target in two days

Pressure is mounting on Tottenham chief Fabio Paratici as Spurs seem on the verge of missing out on the second transfer target in two days.

According to The Athletic, Luis Diaz is close to joining Liverpool from Porto in a €60m deal including add-ons.

Tottenham had reportedly pounced on the 25-year-old after Adama Traore’s snub.

The Wolves winger has been heavily linked with a move to North London, but eventually picked Barcelona, where he should replace Ousmane Dembélé.

Antonio Conte expected new signings in the January transfer window but has not yet welcomed any new face.

The former Inter and Juventus coach is always very demanding when it comes to transfers and has been pushing for new signings over the last few weeks.

“In January it is not easy, but at the same time we know very well that if there is the opportunity and also if it’s not the best opportunity, but we need to do something,” he said last week.

“Also if I repeat that this could not be the best opportunity but I think that we are in a situation where we have to try to implement the squad because the squad is not so big.”

Conte has only lost one of his first ten Premier League games in charge of Tottenham. Spurs have collected 21 points since the former Italy international was appointed in November.
