Chiesa confirms permanent Juve move, No.10 next?

Federico Chiesa has confirmed his future with Juventus and he could become the new number 10 following the departure of Paulo Dybala.

The 24-year-old Italian winger was having a great season under Massimiliano Allegri in Turin following his explosion at Euro 2020 last summer, but everything came to a halt in January, when he suffered a cruciate ligament rupture. His season was ended and now he’s working on his recovery, hoping to return to action in the Autumn.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus are seriously thinking about entrusting the number 10 shirt to Chiesa, despite the fact that he doesn’t fit the bill tactically.

The 24-year-old Italian is a winger and not an attacking midfielder or trequartista, unlike players like Roberto Baggio and Alessandro Del Piero. Despite that, however, it’s also been work by players like Carlos Tevez and Paul Pogba.

The only other factor that could stop this is the transfer market; Juventus could sign someone who wants to ‘claim’ the number 10 shirt in Turin, upsetting the plan. The upside, however, is shirt sales; Chiesa could create a brand around the 10 shirt, similar to Cristiano Ronaldo and Dusan Vlahovic with the number 10 shirt.
