Chelsea risk missing out on De Ligt and pounce on Koulibaly

According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Chelsea are among the clubs interested in Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly given that Bayern Munich have jumped to the front of the queue for Matthijs de Ligt.

The Blues have targeted several defenders in Serie A, looking for replacements for Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.

De Ligt had emerged as a top target for the Premier League giants, but Bayern Munich have joined the race for the Dutch defender and according to multiple sources in Italy, the Bavarians are ready to offer €80-90m to Juventus.

Chelsea saw their €40m swap offer, including Timo Werner or Christian Pulisic, rejected by the Old Lady two weeks ago.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Koulibaly is an alternative for Chelsea, given that the Senegal centre-back is unwilling to join Juventus.

The defender’s agent Fali Ramadani, met the Bianconeri earlier this week, but according to Corsport, Koulibaly doesn’t want to betray the Azzurri.

On the other hand, Sky Sport Italia claims that the Senegal international could consider a move to Turin.

The defender’s contract runs out in June 2023, but Koulibaly has reportedly made it clear that he doesn’t want to sign a contract extension, so either he leaves in the summer or next year on a free transfer.

Napoli are reportedly open to selling their star defender and designated captain for €30-40m in the current transfer window.
