Cardinale saw Milan’s ‘potential’ in win over Bologna

Milan owner Gerry Cardinale saw the team’s potential in their 2-0 win over Bologna on Monday: ‘I am happy to congratulate Stefano Pioli and our lads.’

Cardinale was in the stands at the Stadio Dall’Ara on Monday night for Milan’s Serie A opener against Bologna.

The Rossoneri secured a comfortable 2-0 win thanks to goals from Olivier Giroud and Christian Pulisic.

“It was a good first game to start the new season, we saw the potential of the team to be competitive,” Cardinale told Gazzetta.

“The season is long, but I am happy to congratulate Stefano Pioli and our lads for their excellent performance. We start from here.”

The Rossoneri owner has now returned to the USA, but according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, he’s planning to return to Italy by the weekend to watch Milan’s home Serie A debut in 2023-24 against Torino on Saturday night.

Milan have signed nine new players this summer, including Pulisic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek from Chelsea. Argentinean defender Marco Pellegrino was the latest new addition to Pioli’s squad as Milan announced his purchase from Platense on Tuesday night.

According to Gazzetta and Sky Sport Italia, the Rossoneri want to end the summer transfer window by welcoming a new centre forward as their tenth summer signing.
