Several Italian players, especially youngsters and strikers, took centre stage in Serie A Week 2. Find out the best ones below.

It is not common to see six Italian centre-forwards find the net in a single Serie A round, but this happened over the last weekend when Cagliari‘s Roberto Piccoli, Como’s Patrick Cutrone, Empoli‘s Lorenzo Colombo, Atalanta‘s Mateo Retegui, Udinese‘s Lorenzo Lucca and Genoa‘s Andrea Pinamonti got their names on the scoresheet.

Best performing Italy players in Serie A Round 2: strikers dominate

Piccoli, Lucca, Colombo, Cutrone and Pinamonti all had an average rating of 7/10 on Italian sports papers, while Retegui was rated 6.5 on average and was probably affected by Atalanta’s loss to Torino.

Retegui and his teammate Marco Brescianini had dominated Round 1, but this time around, there wasn’t a standout performer among Italy players. Juventus’ Manuel Locatelli and Nicolò Savona also averaged a 7/10 rating, slightly above their teammate Federico Gatti.

Matteo Darmian scored the opening goal in Inter‘s 2-0 win over Lecce. Jacopo Fazzini bossed the midfield in Empoli’s win over Roma. Emanuele Valeri and Matteo Cancellieri helped Parma beat Milan. Alessandro Buongiorno and Giovanni Di Lorenzo were among Napoli‘s best players in a 3-0 win over Bologna.
