Ancelotti close to Real Madrid contract extension as date of meeting with club directors emerges

Carlo Ancelotti Real Madrid point (Brazil)

According to Spanish paper Diario AS, Carlo Ancelotti is ‘closer to Real Madrid than Brazil’ as club directors are planning to hold contract extension talks with the Italian tactician in January.

Ancelotti’s contract with Real Madrid runs out in June 2024, and Carletto has emerged as the leading candidate to take over Brazil’s national team starting next summer.

However, his priority is to stay at Real Madrid, so he’s not in a hurry to sign an agreement with the Brazilian Federation.

The former Milan and Juventus coach has recently said that ‘only a madman’ would leave the Merengues.

As per AS.com, club directors are more than satisfied with results under Ancelotti, so they will likely discuss a contract extension after the Spanish Supercup in January 2024. According to the report, Ancelotti will be offered a new one-year contract.

Real Madrid will meet city rivals Atletico in the Supercup semis on January 10, 2024, while the potential Final against Barcelona or Osasuna will be played on January 14, 2024.

Real Madrid have only lost one game from 24 across all competitions this season, winning all their six Champions League matches.

Ancelotti reached the Champions League semis last season but had won the trophy in the previous campaign.

Overall, Ancelotti has lifted 10 titles across his two spells at Real Madrid, including the Champions League twice, winning 188 games from 260.
