Allegri: ‘Juventus must keep it simple’

Max Allegri repeatedly urges Juventus to ‘keep it simple, don’t go over the top’ against Bologna, while admitting their lead-in to the break for international duty was ‘disastrous.’

It kicks off at 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT).

The Bianconeri are in dire need of a result after going into the international break off a defeat to Serie A newcomers Monza.

Allegri starts a 4-4-2 formation, bringing back Wojciech Szczesny, Alex Sandro, Manuel Locatelli, Adrien Rabiot and Arkadiusz Milik.

“The last week was disastrous, partly our own fault and partly incidents that went against us,” Allegri told DAZN.

“In these moments, we need to be organised, try not to over-do it, just keep it simple. We all need to do better, as we are trailing in Serie A and lost both Champions League matches. Bologna press, they run hard and we need to keep it simple, not try to go over the top.”

Leandro Paredes and Juan Cuadrado are on the bench this evening, while Angel Di Maria begins a two-match ban, as he was sent off for violent conduct in the defeat to Monza.

“At this moment, we’ve got Locatelli, Rabiot, Alex Sandro back and Paredes played a lot of games recently, he went on international duty, so needed a rest. We’ve got four games coming up in eight days, so need a strong response from the whole squad.”

Arkadiusz Milik returns from suspension and has been arguably the best Juve player of the season so far.

“Milik is doing well, but we knew he would and has always been a very strong centre-forward, as well as supporting a centre-forward, so he is great help for Vlahovic.”
