There are suggestions the FIGC is looking towards Juventus coach Max Allegri as the heir to Roberto Mancini on the Italy bench, potentially as early as next summer.
It has been a very mixed bag for Mancini since taking over the Azzurri role, winning the EURO 2020 tournament only to then fail to qualify for the 2022 World Cup.
With EURO 2024 qualifying also starting on the wrong foot, questions have been raised about his future on the bench.
According to Sport Mediaset, the prime candidate to replace Mancini in future is Allegri, who is currently on his second different experience at Juventus.
The report suggests that if Italy should flop at EURO 2024, then Allegri could even be brought in next summer to replace Mancini.
The 56-year-old won the Scudetto at both Milan and Juventus, while he was fired in 2019 and returned to Turin in 2021 with a contract that runs to June 2025.
