Agent: ‘Higuain will stay at Napoli’

Gonzalo Higuain’s agent says he’s had no contact with Liverpool, and takes a swipe at Juventus – ‘we’re used to playing 11 vs. 11’.

The Argentinian international has been linked with a departure from Napoli, with reports suggesting that English side Liverpool would be the most likely destination.

However, the player’s agent, who is also his brother, has today moved to quell those rumours, telling Radio Crc that his client will stay at San Paolo.

However, the player’s agent, who is also his brother, has today moved to quell those rumours, telling Radio Crc that his client will stay at San Paolo.

“Do Liverpool want Higuain?” Nicolas Higuain considered.

“I don’t speak English, just Italian, French and Spanish.

“I haven’t spoken to any club, firstly because they haven’t called me and secondly because it would be disrespectful to Napoli, it wouldn’t be fair.

“[Napoli President Aurelio] De Laurentiis is a great person, a man of honour and I couldn’t behave incorrectly. We’re not thinking about leaving Napoli.

“I’m confident that the team can make third place [and qualify for the Champions League], then we’ll see about Gonzalo’s future.

“I haven’t spoken with any team, Gonzalo is calm, he has a contract with Napoli and he’s not planning to leave because he’s happy. We have to fight for third place.”

The agent also weighed in to the controversy surrounding Napoli’s defeat to Juventus on Sunday, claiming it has cost the Partenopei a shot at the Scudetto.

“If Napoli hadn’t lost to Juventus through a goal which I think the whole world could see was offside, I think today we’d be talking about something more than finishing third.

“But the the difference that exists to Roma and Juventus is now too great. Higuain is angry and disappointed about the loss to Juventus, especially the way it came about.

“In Argentina we’re used to playing 11 vs. 11.

“However, Gonzalo always looks forward and is already thinking about winning the Lazio game to reach the Champions League places.

“Lazio-Napoli is a difficult match, because [Stefano] Pioli’s team are in good form, but it’s not an impossible match.

“Napoli can win.”
