Spalletti: ‘Florenzi misses Udinese’

Roma Coach Luciano Spalletti reveals Alessandro Florenzi will miss Udinese, and believes Kevin Strootman is better than Miralem Pjanic.

The Giallorossi get Serie A underway tomorrow evening, and this afternoon the tactician gave his first Press conference of the new season.

“Sorry I’m late,” Spalletti told reporters as he arrived.

“Let’s start with the injured ones. Torosidis is out, right thigh. Florenzi is out, right calf. [Antonio] Rudiger, Mario Rui and Nura [Abdullahi] are continuing their rehabilitation.”

Miralem Pjanic has been one of the Lupi’s star men in recent years and left to join Juventus this summer, but Spalletti isn’t worried.

“We have Strootman and [Leandro] Paredes instead of Pjanic and they’re both stronger than Pjanic. So we’re going forward with strong ones.

“There’s also Gerson in terms of quality, but he needs to get used to our football. Then with the arrival of Bruno Peres, Florenzi can play further forward.

“For the moment that’s where we are. We can improve everything and look for another midfielder, but for now our strength is evident.”
