Zanzi: ‘Roma ready for Ronaldo’

Roma CEO Italo Zanzi says they ‘will be ready for Cristiano Ronaldo’ when they face Real Madrid in the Champions League last 16.

The two clubs were drawn together this morning in Nyon, and Zanzi underlined that his team ‘respect everyone but fear no one.’

Real Madrid topped Group A ahead of Paris Saint-Germain and are coached by former Napoli boss Rafa Benitez.

Zanzi also reflected on Sunday’s 0-0 Serie A draw with Napoli at the San Paolo, a performance in which he says the Lupi ‘battled.’

“At this level every opponent is difficult,” he told Premium Sport after the draw.

“We have respect for everyone but we fear no one. We maintain the same confidence in Serie A and in the Champions League.

“Cristiano Ronaldo? We'll be ready for him and for Real Madrid.

“Fans at home against Real? This is not a deal – we need the help of the fans, it would be nice to have the Olimpico full.

“Napoli? We battled, we took a point. It’s not easy to play at the San Paolo, we always want to win but many have lost there.

“Szczesny? He made great saves against Napoli, he was really very good.”
