“I’ve now got my chance,” stated the 2006 World Cup winner after the 2-0 win over Celtic in the Champions League.

Cristian Zaccardo says he decided to stay with Milan over the summer because he wants to lift major silverware.

The defender joined the club in January, but he had appeared in just one game before the recent injury crisis at San Siro.

“I’ve now got my chance,” stated the 2006 World Cup winner after the 2-0 win over Celtic in the Champions League.

“The important thing is to be ready to play mentally.

“Things went well at Torino on Saturday apart form the first goal and things went better against Celtic. The more I play the better I’ll be.”

The defender was linked with a recent move away given his lack of action, but the 31-year-old opted to stay and fight for a place in the side.

“I didn’t accept any of the offers I had in the summer as I want to stay here. At Milan I have the chance to win something.”
