West Ham have jumped to the front of the queue for Gianluca Scamacca and the Italy striker could snub PSG in favour of a move to London.
Italian transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà reported on Tuesday that the Hammers have offered €40m plus add-ons to sign the Sassuolo striker.
PSG are also interested in the Italy international, but their latest offer is €35m, so West Ham are currently leading the race to sign the 23-year-old.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Sassuolo will wait for the Ligue 1 giants to raise their offer, but talks with West Ham are at an advanced stage, so there is a concrete chance to see Scamacca play in the Premier League next season.
Clearly, the status of the two clubs is very different, but Scamacca could sign with West Ham despite the interest from PSG to get more playing time in the Premier League which remains the leading European league.
Scamacca is tempted to join Leo Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappé at PSG, but it could be too early for him to move to Paris, while he’d have more time to settle in East London and more opportunities to get regular game time.
It remains to be seen if PSG will – at least – match West Ham’s offer, but the Hammers are confident about a positive end of negotiations with Sassuolo and the player’s agent Alessandro Lucci.
