When is Euro 2024 group draw and how Italy can avoid pot 4

A tense draw with Ukraine was enough to secure Italy’s spot in Euro 2024 and now they’re waiting to see which pot they’ll be drawn into.

The Azzurri were held to a goalless draw by Ukraine at the BayArena on Monday night, which was the scene of late drama following a possible penalty after a collision between Roma’s Bryan Cristante and Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk in the dying minutes of the match.

Due to the head-to-head record, the draw was enough for Italy to claim their spot at next summer’s European Championship in Germany. Now, Luciano Spalletti’s side are waiting to discover both their pot and group stage opponents.

Page 10 of today’s Gazzetta dello Sport details how Italy are currently in pot three, alongside the Netherlands, Scotland, Slovakia, Slovenia and the Czech Republic. The Azzurri’s position is not secure, however, as it depends on the results in Group D.

If Croatia beat Armenia and Turkey fail to beat Wales, Italy would drop to pot four, but if Zlatko Dalić’s side fail to find victory then Spalletti’s side would be safe in pot three.

The Euro 2024 group stage draw will take place in Hamburg on December 2nd at 17.00 UK time.
