What Mourinho told referee during Roma Primavera game

José Mourinho attended Roma Primavera’s game against Lecce on Tuesday and had something to tell the referee: ‘Leave the kid alone!’

The Portuguese tactician was in the stands to watch Roma’s youth team take on Genoa in the Coppa Italia Round of 16 yesterday.

According to multiple reports in Italy, the Special One was very much involved and even shouted at the referee during the penalty shootout after a 0-0 draw.

The match official urged Roma midfielder Niccolò Pisilli to correctly place the ball on the penalty spot, but Mourinho was not impressed and screamed: ‘Leave the kid alone!’

Pisilli eventually scored the penalty, helping Roma Primavera secure a 3-2 win and get a spot in the quarter-finals.

Roma senior team will face Genoa in the Coppa Italia Round of 16 tomorrow at the Stadio Olimpico.

The Portuguese tactician signed a three-year deal with the Giallorossi in 2021, so his contract at the club expires in June 2024.

Several Primavera players have made their senior debut under the Portuguese tactician in the capital, including Cristian Volpato, Edoardo Bove and Benjamin Tahirović.
