Morten Frendrup and Albert Gudmundsson could follow Radu Dragusin to the Premier League from Genoa, but Il Grifone are unwilling to sell in January following their latest deal with Tottenham Hotspur.
Genoa are comfortably outside the relegation zone in Serie A this season with 21 points in the opening 19 games and they will host Torino at Marassi on Saturday.
New Tottenham signing Dragusin contributed to their positive results in 2023-24, but the same is true of Denmark international Frendrup and Iceland star Gudmundsson, Genoa’s leading scorer with 10 Serie A goals this season.
Reports in Italy over the last few weeks suggested the pair has been scouted by several Premier League sides this term.
Tuttosport reported in December 2023 that Aston Villa had scouted both players on multiple occasions in 2023-24, while the latest update from Sky Sport Italia claimed West Ham had made an approach for Gudmundsson, but Genoa were unwilling to sell in January after sending Dragusin to North London.
Tuttosport also reported earlier this month that Liverpool were the frontrunners to secure Frendrup’s services at the end of the season.
The Denmark international, 22, is a central midfielder with four assists in 19 Serie A appearances this season.
During his latest pre-match press conference, Genoa coach Alberto Gilardino refused to rule out more sales in the future saying he hopes more players will follow in Dragusin’s footsteps in the coming months.
However, he also suggested that he expects the club to sign a replacement for Dragusin and that he would not enjoy more sales this month as Genoa’s opponents in the race for survival would sign reinforcements in the winter transfer window.
