Tottenham Hotspur are on the verge of a double swoop for Juventus pair Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur for a combined €70m, according to Sky Sport Italia.
Transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio claims the negotiations have reached an advanced stage and are now close to completion before Monday’s deadline.
The deals are aided by the fact Spurs director Fabio Paratici was also working at Juve when these players were originally signed.
He is the one who negotiated the €35m transfer to get Kulusevski from Atalanta in January 2020, but he remained on loan at Parma for the rest of that season.
According to Sky Sport Italia, Spurs are prepared to take the Sweden international on loan with an obligation to buy for a total €40m.
The obligation, however, would be based on Tottenham qualifying for the Champions League and a certain number of appearances for the Premier League side this season.
As for Bentancur, Aston Villa have been cut out completely and the offer on the table is believed to be for €30m including performance-related bonuses.
Juve owe Boca Juniors a 30 per cent cut of the fee as part of their original negotiation for the Uruguay international.
It had been 50 per cent, getting lower with each year that the midfielder spent in Turin.
The plan is to replace Bentancur with Denis Zakaria, who is in the final months of his contract with Borussia Monchengladbach.
The offer from Juve is €5m plus €2m in bonuses, but the two clubs are debating how easy or difficult those bonuses would be to achieve.
Another option remains Nahitan Nandez of Cagliari, another Uruguay international.
