Tottenham-bound Perisic confirms Inter exit, says bye to fans on Instagram

Ivan Perisic has confirmed his Inter exit on Tuesday by penning a goodbye note to the club and his fans on Instagram.

The Croatia international is expected to join Tottenham Hotspur on a free transfer when his Nerazzurri contract expires on June 30 and he will be reunited with former coach Antonio Conte.

He wrote: “After 254 games, 55 goals, 49 assists, 3 trophies and 18.934 minutes spent on the pitch wearing this glorious jersey ; my journey here has come to an end. ⁣⁣⁣⁣

“Even though every end means a new beginning it’s important to reflect back on these past years and show you my deepest appreciation for the work accomplished. ⁣⁣⁣⁣

“It was an unforgettable learning experience for me as a player and for my whole family. ⁣⁣⁣⁣

“To the team, the staff, to all the employees but most importantly to the fans: you will always have a special place in my heart. ⁣⁣⁣⁣

“I leave feeling privileged having this club in my portfolio.”

Inter director Beppe Marotta had already confirmed Perisic was joining Tottenham on Monday at a charity event when he said the 33-year-old was keen to link up once with Conte, who managed him with the Nerazzurri in the 2020-21 season.

In the previous campaign, Conte’s first at Inter, Perisic was sent on loan to Bayern Munich but on his return, the ex-Borussia Dortmund man flourished in a left-wing-back role.

Under Conte’s successor at Inter, Simone Inzaghi, he continued his impressive form in his new position and was one of the club’s best players this campaign.

Since joining Inter in 2015, Perisic has won a Serie A title, Coppa Italia and Supercoppa.
