Inter chief Marotta: Hope Dybala chooses us, Perisic wanted Conte

Inter CEO Beppe Marotta said he hopes Paulo Dybala chooses the Nerazzurri and revealed Ivan Perisic’s impending move to Tottenham Hotspur is down to a desire to be reunited with Antonio Conte.

Argentina international Dybala is a free agent from June 30 when his Juventus contract expires and, while the Nerazzurri have been frontrunners for his signatures but Roma are also interested.

And Marotta admitted publicly on Monday that the Coppa Italia holders are keen to sign the forward. Speaking at a charity event, he said: “I don’t know where Dybala will play next season.

“The hope is that he plays for us. From our point of view, we aren’t worried. We don’t have to do anything hastily. We have surely already done something in advance, staying ahead of it.

“You need creativity and courage to do certain things. It’s clear that the core of the squad will stay. We are Inter and we always want to challenge for the biggest objectives.”

Marotta also addressed Perisic’s situation with a Spurs medical set for Monday, according to reports. The Croatia winger’s contract also runs out on June 30 and he is on the brink of joining his former Inter coach.

Marotta added: “It’s shame but he wanted to try the Premier League. We couldn’t give him a better offer.

“His choice, in simple terms, was based on a different future to what he has here. Maximum respect for this and a lot of gratitude.

“We will find the right substitute and, in any case, we’ve already got Robin Gosens who we trust and admire.”

After winning the title last season, financial difficulties meant Inter were forced to allow Achraf Hakimi and Romelu Lukaku – two key components – leave.

And there are fears there are likely to have to take similar action this summer with defender Alessandro Bastoni linked with a move away.
